Kamisakiura Asuka Shrine (Paired Dragon Shimenawa)

神前浦飛鳥神社(つがい龍の注連縄)かみさきうらあすかじんじゃ(つがいりゅうのしめなわ)

Asuka Shrine in the fishing village of Kamisakiura, Minamiise. The shrine is known for the giant paired-dragon shimenawa (sacred straw rope) woven and donated by local residents — a male-female pair rendered with fins, whiskers, and fangs entirely in straw. The shimenawa expresses the dragon-serpent (sea-deity) belief of Shima Peninsula fishing communities and is replaced annually for the village festival.
