Niji no Izumi Ceramic Art Space
陶芸空間 虹の泉とうげいくうかん にじのいずみ
An outdoor ceramic art space built by potter Kenji Higashi over roughly 35 years in the mountains of Hase, Iitaka-cho, Matsusaka City. Kanko Mie records that Higashi aimed to cover a 5,800-square-meter site entirely in ceramic works, but his sudden death in 2013 left it unfinished. Preservation activities resumed in April 2023, and the admission fee was revised in April 2025. When the reception is unstaffed, tickets can be purchased at the nearby roadside station. Unlike a conventional museum, the site is best understood as an unfinished outdoor ceramic environment.
