Fukudenkai Hanaguri-zuka (Cattle-Nose-Ring Mound)
福田海 鼻ぐり塚ふくでんかい はなぐりづか
Within the grounds of the religious corporation Fukudenkai stands a memorial mound piled from cattle nose rings gathered from all over Japan. Okayama Kankō Web and Rurubu describe it as a heap of roughly seven million cattle nose rings, dedicated to Batō Kannon as the chief deity in memorial for livestock of every kind. The mound — bright with countless coloured rings — appears outlandish, but at its core lies a serious requiem for meat-producing animals.
