Kawakura Sai-no-Kawara Jizōson

川倉賽の河原地蔵尊かわくらさいのかわらじぞうそん

A sacred site on a low hill northeast of Ashino Park where roughly 2,000 Jizō statues of every size are enshrined. Goshogawara City explains that, like Mt. Osore, the place is known for mediumship by itako shamans, and that during the festival of the 22nd–24th of the sixth lunar month worshippers fill the site to hear the dead spoken through their voices. A dense Tsugaru-region folk shrine where Sai-no-Kawara belief, memorial rites for the dead, and itako culture all converge.
