仲山神社 牛蒡祭(ごんぼ祭り)なかやまじんじゃ ごんぼまつり

D A T E2026-02-11

An ancient festival held on February 11 each year at Nakayama Shrine in Shimonokawa, Misugi-cho, Tsu City, Mie Prefecture. Recorded in the Bantogachō register of 1605 (Keichō 10), it features an arrow-shooting rite and an Ogasawara-style knife ceremony (filleting a mullet), after which a cedar-wood phallic palanquin and a straw vulva palanquin are paraded and joined in the precinct. Combining phallic worship and harvest pre-celebration, it is also known as the model for the film 'Wood Job!'. A Mie Prefecture Designated Intangible Folk Cultural Property.
