Mikawa Coastal Greenway — 'Japanese Islands' Park
三河臨海緑地・日本列島公園みかわりんかいりょくち・にほんれっとうこうえん
An open-air park within the Mikawa Coastal Greenway in Toyokawa City. The ground is inlaid with floral-emblem tiles representing all 47 prefectures of Japan, alongside benches modeled on each prefecture's signature product (e.g., Aomori apples, Yamagata shogi king-piece) and monuments and song stelae depicting famous sites (Tojinbo for Fukui, Lake Biwa for Shiga, etc.). Once an ambitious miniature 'Japanese archipelago,' the park is now largely overgrown with weeds; many benches and monuments have weathered into near-unrecognizable forms. The decaying state of the intended 'national miniature' is itself the spectacle — an unintentional outdoor B-grade time capsule.
